Toothfairies Statement
Carving teeth into fairies is a literal interpretation of the tooth fairy legend. I first had the idea after visiting the dentists, when I had to have my Wisdom teeth extracted. I asked to keep them as it seemed strange to see a part of my body treated as clinical waste and thrown away. So much is disposed of nowadays that could be recycled. I firstly wondered if I could make some kind of self portrait out of the tooth, when the fairy idea occurred to me I persevered with carving techniques and surprisingly it worked.
The tooth fairy is a mythical figure who brings reward after a time of loss and pain.
I carve the teeth using dental drill bits and a standard drill. Each fairy takes approximately seven hours although it used to take much longer. If you would like to have your own or your children’s teeth carved into fairies then please get in touch.
